I purchased an Acer product in November 2014 from Microsoft.com. I understand that it is no longer under warranty. I thought I would start here in my quest to find out about having it repaired.
1) The product in question is:

Acer Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012 32GB Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC
Product SKU: CWF-01910

2) The damage I am to understand is within the charging port. I am told that it is the internal, male portion of the charging apparatus has been broken off and was pushed back.

This was my son's. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able tell me any details other than , "the charger got broke."

I wanted to see if you have any options or any suggestions.

Any information will be greatly appreciated,

Thank you

You are in luck, sort of... That model has the power connector in a small separate board called the DC Wire Cable. It screws into the case on the inside and has a set of wires going to the motherobard. As such it should be available as a part. You might have to be an authorized service center to buy the part though. If you have a favorite technician, have them check to see if they can get it. If you prefer to tear into it yourself contact Acer support and ask if you can buy one. Worst case would be to find somewhere (eBay maybe?) you can buy a broken machine with a good power jack to cannibalize for parts.

Thank you so much for your help! I do have a few tech friends I can ask ...if this is the solution. The friend that looked at it says the internal male portion is "pushed back"....not sure of any other details. Does that change things? He doesnt seem confident about making the repair for fear of damaging the digitizer? He thought he was going to need to solder the pin...but thats not the case....apparently that might have been a preferable fix. I hope this is clear to you...its kinda greek to me....Im a nurse... Medical jargon....YES .... Technology....No. Thank you soooo much for your help!

Yeah, it makes sense. The powwr jack is a round cylinder with a spring loaded bit on the outside edge and a pin coming up the center. When you push the power plug in the spring loaded part contacts the outside and pushes the inside against the pin. The outside is ground, the center is power. If the center pin gets bent a bit it's not hard to bend it a bunch more the next time you push the power plug in, or just push it back deeper in the socket. It's too small to reach in with pliers to try and pull that center pin back out, and it'd likely break if you tried. IIRC the plug is only 3.5mm (an eighth of an inch) wide and the center pin is under 1mm in diameter.

So...can I ask for some clarification....

In my 1st reply....I asked a few questions ...did my further info change the initial suggestion for repair....

Also my friend that is helping me sent these pics of the part he says I need. Can you tell me what its called? Or how do I order it ...outside of buying a broken one for parts?

    Sorry Im unclear..

I don't have an actual parts list, but your picture doesn't look like what I've seen. There should be a four wire connector on the motherboard that has a short four wire connection to a little power port mounted to the case.

Can you tell me where I can purchase the part I posted...the 2nd image...the one that is clear
Ive been watching Ebay for Acer Aspire switch 10 w/ cracked screens...but most say they have bad mother board or dont turn on...seems too risky for my needs. There are several parts listed though that have been tested ....just dont know what this part is called...
    Please & thank you
