A1-850-13FQ. Skype crashes for the past 2 months

Hi All

If this is in the wrong place, please re-post. My first post here.

6 month old Acer A1-850-13FQ. For the past 2 months, Skype will not open. I just get a black pop up window stating Skype 'Stopped'. I have reported this problem numerous times via 'feedback', and now ignore and do not waste my time!

I have contacted Acer who say it is not their problem. Skype/google/Acer(whoever gets the feedback) do not respond to the report. I have done 2 factory restores with no resolution. The tablet reports it is up to date. Skype will download updates on a regular basis, but never allows me to open and use! I am not able to uninstall the app, only uninstall the updates

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Can anyone help?

Thank you

Have you tried a full factory reset? That will often clear up issues related to corrupted data. Be sure and back up your personal stuff first though, since it'll wipe it otherwise.

Just for the heck of it I just removed and redownloaded Skype on my little Android tablet. It was as simple as tapping on the Skype icon and holding my finger on the icon until an "X" appeared on the top middle of the screen. I then dragged the Icon to the x and the program is uninstalled.  Then I went to the Google store and downloaded and installed it again.  Did you try that already?

    Hi,

To answer your question: Yes! I have tried that. The acer tablet will not allow me to remove the skype app (I believe it was pre-installed at time of purchase). The only operation I am able to preform is to remove the "Updates" to skype...Not remove the app! That process then allows me to update skype again, not reinstall the complete skype app...

    But thanks for the input
