X34 dropping frames

I'm using G-sync and locked to 100Hz in desktop and screen, and verified by Fraps.

I get occational dropped frames (black flashes), especially when the games and applications in question are capable of going well above 100Hz if left unsynced. Games that are below 100fps or hovering around 100Hz show no issue, but games that can reach 150+ fps are near unplayable. If I set the screen to 95Hz it never flickers no matter what I do regarding framerate.

I use the DP cable that came with the screen. nVidia GTX980. No adapters.

Will a new cable resolve the issue, or is the supplied cable supposedly good enough for 3440x1440@100Hz?

I have heard this can be rectified by forcing V-Sync on.

Go to NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Vertical sync > Change to 'On'

I cannot attest to this myself as I have never faced this problem (because the games I play are usually below 100 Hz even with a 980 Ti), but I think it's worth giving it a try.

Sounds like 100hz is borderline overclock on your monitor, mine only reached 95hz with full no issue stability

Yes, I am just confused that it is solid when the games are only somewhat faster than 100Hz. It's only woth games capable of going way over 150fps that the problem shows itsel.

I'll try to force V-sync and see if that fixes it, and I have a new DP cable on the way that is 4k@60Hz certified.

That is strange, i wonder if frame capping the graphics card would solve the problem
