We have been unable to update A500 via wifi and it says "Network Coverage is Currently Poor" when we are right next to router.  I have established it must be done manually.  Can it only be done via SD Card or can it be done via PC or USB etc?  Also when we search for A500 OS on Acer website it doesnt bring up our update, so which one do we choose.  We have Android version 4.0.3, Image Version Acer_AV041_A500_RV03RC01_WW_GEN1.  Lastly she has been very good to my 4 children for gaming and I would like to do an upgrade, which tablet would be recommended which is just as good as this one was?

you already have the latest version for your A500, no more updates.

about new models, any new 10" Acer model is good.

Ok thanks alot for the speedy response.  I found this data straight after I posted.  Quite saddened that our Acer only lasted 4 years, we cant even run Chrome anymore.  Kids have lost Subway surfer amongst others.  So, is the only solution to purchase a new tablet? Is there no other way to get her a higher software update on the tablets?

Once again, thanks alot Smiley Happy Will have to start saving up then I suppose.

you can update your tablet to higher android versions but:

    1) need to know how to install custom recovery

    2) install a custom OS

    3) even if you are able to do both (not hard but not so easy peasy), remember that kernel drivers will remain the old ones, since only Acer or the third party producer can update.

So, a new tablet will be more "secure" Smiley Happy

Any idea where a person would find the info to install a manual operating system etc???? Any help would be appreciated. My wife bought me a tablet and it only does about 10% of what i want, Would be a shame to scrap it, still like new condition
