Acer tablet. Moving apps to sd card

I have been reading about this now and am not liking what I am finding.  Is there no way to move apps to the SD card.  I have only 3 games installed and the tablet is full.  If you can't move apps to the SD card.. this is going to be a huge let down?

Can someone help here or is what I am finding true.  You cannot move apps to the SD card

What tablet are you using and what version of Android are you running? Some versions of Android do not support this. I have seen third party app manager apps you can try from the Play store to help manage apps.

Thanks for the help, I have an iconic 7 model B1-730
    Android ver:4.4.2
I have tried apps that move other apps to sd card. They list the apps that can be moved, but then say it can't move them because the function has been disabled my manufacturer?

My understanding is that support for this was removed in Android 4.4.2. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a way around this if the third party app solution is not working. Maybe another user has a workaround or a solution they can provide.

Ok, I am not sure why this would be removed, was this done by Acer? I have to say, being able to expand the memory of an android tablet was one of the main reasons I chose one. Not having this feature is a real limitation in my view and would definitely cause me to rethink my choice in the future. I hope Acer will get this back quick.

It wasn't Acer, it is like this on many android devices. There are lots or workarounds on other android forums. Just search installing apps to SD cards in google.

Nope, it was done by Google as part of their OS changes. Smiley Sad Some of the largest Android system manufacturers have customized their systems to bypass it, but you have to pur some serious cash into development to do that. One of the reasons why our models were more reaonably priced is the 'closer to stock' OS.

Thanks for all the information, I guess I understand more about the issue even though threre is no resolution.  I have to say however that this is a more and more frustrating limitation that acer has, as I am not forced to remove apps to install new ones.(this also makes the SD slot, which is also one of the reasons I chose android over apple, useless for me, I wanted a tablet not a camera!!)  I have had various acer products over the years and have been happy with them.  But, I need 4 acer tablets to install the same number of apps as other brands. Not a worth while cost savings there.  Sorry guys this is just something I cannot overlook... may very well be my last acer tablet.

I have the same issue with my Samsung phone (S5 running Android 5.0), I have to be really proactive with storage cleanup or else I run out of room on the builtin storage. I have a 128GB SD card with music and stuff on it, but no apps.

It has been a while now and I keep coming back to this issue.  I have tried everthing.  I have many acer products and am so disapointed that this issue has not been addressed.  Stating that other large manufactures have dealt with this and acer has simply chosen not is kind of a let down.  I guess my next tablet from Samsung or Apple won't have this problem.

As I said, I have the same issue with my Samsung. Only apps that were written to specificaly allow it can be moved to the SD card. Most apps, including all the bloatware that came with it from Samsung and Verizon, can't be moved or removed. I can't speak for Apple, but last I heard they weren't running Android. Smiley Happy

Still disappointed that there is no solution to this from Acer.  I see that many users have the same problem and are also frustrated with this.  Given the alternatives I just cannot see myself investing in another Acer tablet.  Given the reasons that other manufactures are bigger and have spent the money to add a way to do this.  Worth the extra bucks in my view.  A cheaper item that I cannot use is not worth it for me.  A tablet with 3 apps on it.Smiley Mad
