Problem with Intel HD Graphics 4000 on Windows 10

Hi everyone,

I have Aspire P3 171 and have upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seems to be OK, except the display driver of Intel HD Graphics 4000 disabled by the Windows, so I can not control the brightness of the display at all. I have contacted someone from Intel support but he said:

Hi LeoMS,

I was able to review the results of SSU; everything looks good. It seems to be an odd case with your laptop. I suggest to try with you computer manufacturer driver. Manufacturers customize our drivers according to their pc settings. If problem continues, get in touch with Acer and request for maintenance.

Sleep, hibernate not working...

try this

windows logo key + x

choose Command prompt (admin)

type

powercfg -h on

exit

reboot

then

windows logo key + x

power options

change plan settings

change advanced power settings

check under Battery - Critical battery action and low battery action if Hibernate is listed as action

on power options - Choose what the power button do - change settings that are currently not available - check if fast startup is ticked

Uninstall Intel VGA drivers, install Acer's version.

I have uninstalled the newest version of the driver but when I try to install the driver you suggested from the acer website I got an error message: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". Now, what should I do?

It is not working IronFly, I still can not install the acer VGA driver after have installed the intel chipset. I got the same error warning. Is there any way to fix this problem?

I have downloaded the version of the driver and have tried to install it but it still not working.

one thing to try is to do a driver manual installation.

http://www.driverscape.com/articles/how-to-install-a-driver-manually

check on C:\Intel (if any) about the .inf file for your VGA.

After having tried to manually install the driver of version 4248, the process was stopped with message: "The Best driver for your device is already installed" Windows has determined the driver software for your device is uptodate.

And It is still not working.

can you check on device manager which driver is installed?

Sometimes to downgrade a driver you need to

1) Uninstall the current driver

2) Select Delete when asked

3) Explicitly select the one you want to install from your download.

I can install manually the driver of version 4248 (downgrade) successfully but the device is still marked yellow. The sleep, hibernate and brightness controlls are still misssing.

I need more help.

i'm still thinking...i never had your model so it's a kind of guessing.

I have tried to go to Service Center in my local area but they said, they want to try to find the solution but this computer has to be left about 1 week in the service center. Ofcourse I can not do that because every day I use this computer. Anyone know where to find the solution online?

Old thread, but I finally found the solution:

Go to Registry Editor (regedit.exe)

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000
Next, go find:
KMD_EnableBrightnesslf2
KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2

Set both to 0.

(If they aren't found, add them as DWORD)

Reboot.
ADDITIONAL STEP: In Device Manager, disable your video adapter and re-enable.
Retest your LCD brightness settings.

Your Fn arrow keys for brightness may still not work (there is no solution for that on some Acers). But at least you can click the Battery icon in the tray and control your brightenss again.
