Hello, everyone.  I'm new to Acer.  Just got my R11.  Seems like a great computer so far.  Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for tech support.  I couldn't get to my desktop after the computer had charged all night.  Called tech support.  The lady that answered had a thick accent, so I don't know her name.  When I explained my problem to her she told me to contact the manufacturer.  After a short, stunned silence, I said, "Isn't Acer the manufacturer?"  She then responded that I needed to contact the seller.  I ended the call, called back, and got a different tech.  Just then I solved the problem on my own, so I ended that call as well.

Tech support for about anything these days can be really hit and miss with a lot of misses. Forums  can be a good source of inforrmation.

FWIW - Acers have been pretty good machines personally and just purchased a desktop replacement (E5-772G-) Worked in IT for years, mostly Dells, HP's, a few Thinkpads and then Lenovo. They all had their good and bad points; but I continue to always check Acer and compare and read a lot of reviews and info. Haven't got the lastest one yet, just ordered, we'll see how it goes.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I've done a search for a solution to the problem with the cursor not responding properly.  I've downloaded all of the updates, but I am still having the problem.  Still having the problem.  Has anybody come up with a solution?

    Thanks!

Thought I read somewhere that by playing with some of the settings helped to make it work better. It was either here on the Acer forums or Amazon reviews. I recently purchased an E5-772G-52Q7 on Amazon as a gift, that might be where I was reading.  Read so many times anymore about lousy touchpads, not just Acer, miss the ones they used to use with the separate buttons like on my 8 yr old Acer or some old Thinkpads I've had.

Wish I could be more help - won't get my new machine until this Wed.

Bought my first luggable in 1983 (8088, 4.77MHz, dual floppy) and have had a lot of laptops both company and personal. Build my own desktops.

Started buying Acers on specs in 2009 and just ordered my sixth (an R3/R11 with N3700/4gb/500GB) yesterday, only had one I didn't really care for but was first ventless 64 bit, a Switch 12, & needed to test and use. R series is a great improvement over the Switches IMNSHO but the SD card on a R14 sticks out the side (needs a half height adapter - do not know if R3 is the same, has a different card reader) and the owner's manual never says how to do a right click (press on bottom right corner).

One of the big advantages Acer has is this forum which often knows things the script kiddies don't. Not saying Acer is perfect, some devices are disasters, but can tell pretty quick which is which.

And that gets to the issue with this post. Just saying R11 does not help much in identifying which R11 you have. It is probably a R3-131T but the next four letter determine which one you have. Acer has a loss leader (n3050, 2GB memory, 32GB SSD) and has a reasonably powerful version - not for gamers but for the rest of us - (n3700, 4GB, 500GB disk).

The good news is that upgrading is possible (8GB memory is easy, larger disk a bit more difficult).

So to be of help though we really need to know which R3/R11 you purchased.

ps the R3/R11 has a reset button. It is on the bottom next to one of the center screws. Poke a small diameter object into the hole gently and should feel the button click.

    Prauf,

Are you saying that the Cursor just isn't responsive at all? If so, do you have a USB mouse to try? Is it possible that the touchpad was turned off? FN+F7 in most cases will enable/disable the TP.

If it's laggy or only partially responsive, maybe delete the driver from device manager, reboot and let Windows reinstall it?

    Hope this helps,
    Cory
