My Acer (Model KAV60) Netbook won't connect to my sister's WI-FI....

I recently purchased a hardly used 10.1" Acer Netbook (Model KAV60) from a friend of mine.  When I got it home, it immediately connected to my WI-FI with no problem.  I decided to lend it to my sister, as she wanted to 'test out' what it's like to use one of these small Netbooks & perhaps buy one for herself.  When she got home with it, she could not connect to her WI-FI, even though her regular size laptop can with no problem.  Any ideas as to WHY she is having trouble connecting to her WI-FI?

What router does your sister have?

What encryption is the router set to?

Is it broadcasting the SSID or is it hidden?

My sister lives 65 miles North of me, so I will probably be driving up there this weekend to check out her modem & router to see WHY she can't connect to it.  Check back next week to see if I accomplished anything with her Netbook.  Thanks for your help!
