Acer Iconia B1-730HD charging problems? Disappointing after sales service!

I have had my tablet since Xmas. Apart from a wifi issue, which was eventually resolved via a factory reset, I was generally very happy.... until August when I found that my tablet would often not charge properly when using the supplied charger. After a couple of weeks the charger stopped working altogether, so I contacted Acer who requested I return the charger, which they then replaced. Although I strongly suspect that the replacement was either 2nd hand or refurbished! A couple of weeks later the same thing happened, the charger stopped charging, although I was still able to charge my tablet with my phone charger....

When I contacted Acer again I was asked to send my tablet & charger for assessment/repair. I received it back yesterday. They have replaced the battery (apparently) but returned the same charger... needless to say, the tablet still doesn't charge up with the supplied charger!!  ...oh, and the screen is now scratched!!

When I contacted Acer again this mornig, I was told that I need to send my tablet back for yet another repair, which will include a full diagnostics check... however, according to the paperwork I received yesterday, a full test of the tablet was carried out prior to them sending it back to me!!!

Has anyone else had any similar problems with the supplied charger?

Thanks in advance!

    kangaroo1,

Our daughter has one of these tablets and the charging adapter connector became loose when it was in the tablet. We replaced the charging adapter and it has worked fine since, a nice snug connection, is your connection loose at all?

    Hi Acer-Justin,

All the connections seemed to be good when using both the original & the replacement chargers.... I even tried wiggling the connector(s) around whilst connected, but it made no difference....

    kangaroo1,

Sorry for the delayed response, it does sound like there might be something else going on with it then.

    Hi Acer-Justin,

No worries! For the minute, Acer have come good... they had already replaced the battery and now they've supplied a new charger (which I still maintain was the problem all along!) so it all seems to be working again. And because the screen was damaged sometime either in the workshop or in transit, the last time it went back, they replaced this also!

I'm inclined to believe that in all of this they'd probably have been better just replacing the tablet, it would likely have been cheaper, but I've nearly got new one anyway!

So, a couple of weeks in and all seems ok for now.... but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!
