Aspire V3 - 571 Windows 10 Update Issue

Hey Folks,

 

The Aspire V3 - 571 is not on Acer's Windows 10 update list.  When I run the Windows 10 app and the "Check your PC" for compatibility...  I get the following error message.

 

Devices

The device manufacturers haven't made these devices compatible with windows 10, so they will cause problems. Check with the manufacturers for support.

 

-Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter

You might not be able to connect to the internet

 

Is this something that will be made compatible in the coming weeks?  Or is updating to Windows 10 just out of the question for me until I purchase a new computer?

    Hi there

     

    I too own an V3 -571.  Unlike you, when I ran the Windows 10 app compatibility test, it said my laptop was compatible and reported no issues.  So I went ahead and upgraded to W10, despite Acer website not having this model listed.

     

    For the last seven days I've been searching forums and the web to eliminate an issue around my boot up time, which was previously less than 15 seconds on 8.1 and was now up to 3minutes!  You'd get a black screen and then eventually it would get to the login screen.  It was so frustrating.

     

    I tried endless tips and instructions, but apparently it's the drivers (predominantly the display adapters) than need updating.  However, this is impossible if our model (V3-571) isn't supported and W10 compatible drivers aren't available.

     

    Dolby home theatre v4 stopped working too, which I've seen a lot of other users complain about on this forum. 

     

    Last night I reverted back to 8.1 as I'd had enough.  If you do go ahead and update I'd be intrigued to know how you get on and whether you ecounter the same boot up issue that I did, especially as we have the same laptop.

     

    I've decided to wait for either Microsoft or Acer to iron out the cracks and all relevant drivers are available, if ever.  I like the new W10 but I can't deal with laptop taking 3 minutes to turn on.

    About dolby try Realtek 2.79 version:

    Do you have any suggestions for the slow boot up; 3minutes plus?

     

    I've heard it could be display adapter (Intel HD Graphics 4000) but what version of driver (and where) is suitable?  I'd rather download all of the drivers from Acer website.

     

    Is it okay to use W10 drivers supported for other models as you have suggested?  Has you personally tried this?

     

    I really want to take your advice and try installing Windows 10 again, but only if my laptops performance is going to be >= to current level on 8.1.

    Drivers are hardware specific (sort of...since most of time they support a lot of device from the same manufacter), not Acer model specific; so don't worry.

    I installed the Realtek Driver update (R2.79). This does not include Dolby Theatre and it has now disappeared. Any ideas?

    double click the exe to extract files, add \relatek at the end of the path where extract files, once done, browse inside realtek folder and run setup.exe

    This worked great, thanks. However, Dolby Home Theatre v4 has changed to Dolby Digital Plus. Apprciate that this isn't a W10 issue... more so due to working in conjunction with the updated realtek driver.

     

    DD+ is a horrible interface and options are minimal in comparison to DHTv4. Even whilst running W8.1, I use the Realtek drivers compatible with W8 (from Acer website), just because it includes DHTv4. As soon as you update the drivers compatible to W8.1 (Acer website) or for W10 (via your link) it includes DD+, which is an 'upgraded' Dolby version. Even though it's *****!

     

    Is there any method of getting DHTv4 to work with W10? I could roll my soundcard driver back to W8 compatibility version. Not sure how that works with W10 though.

     

    FYI - I'm still runnin W8.1 at the moment. Am trying the recommended drivers on this OS before I attempt another go at downloading and installing W10 again. If I can get Dolby HTv4 or (worse case scenario) Dobly DD+ running in W10, my only dilemma will be how to solve the excessive boot up time. These two issues were the sole reason I reverted back.

    Uninstall all old drivers and use the drivers provided by Windows Update

    Hello, I also have just encountered comparability issues with windows 10. This week lost broadband and Bluetooth on my v3 571. I am unable to revert to 8.1 as the original Acer backup has been erased by windows 10. I have tried all that I know, which not a lot. I have now been told to wipe machine clean,  find operating system and start again,, how helpful of both Microsoft and Acer Can anyone verify if this really so, I cannot get internet at all which adds to the problem, thanks, Johnelle

    Download the current drivers (might be 10 drivers, might be 8.1) with a different machine and put them on a thumb drive, then install them from the thumb drive on the affected machine.

    Hi and thanks for your comments. Had a friend visit today who is a software specialist, he took one look my laptop and pronounced that " He was pretty certain that Kaspersky had wiped out my internet drivers". He uninstalled Kaspersky restarted and guess what, my drivers reloaded and WiFi restored. I am currently running with Defender and will have to check out problem with Kaspersky later. I had a similar problem with Norton back in June 2015 following a large update to Norton software. Rolled back on that occasion and problem was resolved.

     

    I hope this is of information to others who are having problems, there does seem to be some conflict between Defender, firewall and other security packages.

    The closest I've seen to that was an issue with an older version of the SonicWALL VPN client. They install a layer on the adapter driver stack and it was blocking W10 from seeing the adapter. No adapter, no network. Yet Device Manager said everything was fine, since the hardware really was there. I had to roll back to 8.1, remove the client manually (uninstaller was broken), install the current client and then finally redo the upgrade. A couple of days wasted when I could have been doing something useful, like watching TV or reading a book. Smiley Happy

    and where may I ask are the instructions to "Uninstall all old drivers" and where do we find these "drivers provided by Windows Update"?
