X34 Predator - AG coating

I am used to having IPS panels in my gaming room, which is light controlled to the point that it's basically dark other than the computer displays themselves. I have always been disappointed with the anti-glare coatings used. They always bother me as I just see that grainy blur everywhere when I'm trying to see past the panel into the content. I keep seeing the panel. It's distracting.

So how is it on the X34? I have read that the X34 has a somewhat less aggressive coating. Can anyone using an X34 in a dark room please tell me how the coating looks? I have read that there is definitely some grain, but not any patterns or readability issues. Does it introduce any haze or blurring? I really wish this was an option with all displays - to choose no anti-glare coating, i.e. glossy. That said, maybe I've just never seen a "less aggressive" ag coating.

I have read methods of removing the coating, but I won't risk it. Can the X34 be ordered without somehow directly through Acer?

The only glossy IPS I've ever had was an Overlord 27" 1440p, which I'm currently using, but it's a nightmare of other problems and the company went out of business leaving my RMA dangling in the breeze. So I'm stuck replacing it and am hopeful this X34 is the one. But like I said, I really did like the glossy screen. So clean and clear.

It's an extremely nice coating on the X34.  Semi-glossy.  I would even say it's barely glossy at all, but it does a perfect job of minimising glare from the room/lights/etc. whilst still keeping great image quality and colours.  I wouldn't want any other type of coating on this thing that's for sure... and pure glossy/shiny is really really horrible.

I have noticed that the film looks very much like it could be peeled off the front of the screen if you desired, but I'm guessing that will pretty much void the warranty which would be a massive waste.  Just leave it on and get used to it.  It really is a very nice coating compared to lots of other AG coatings available Smiley Happy

Thanks for your impressions. I know for a fact that I like the glossy, non-coated panels because I use one presently and love the clean image. I don't find them to be terrible because I don't have any light sources to cause glare. So for me, glossy is the ideal. The only downside is that if I want to move it to another room that has more ambient light, then I might not like it as much. But in the room where I would use the X34, there is basically no ambient light.

But I'm glad to hear you find it high quality and not a problem at all. Hopefully others will chime in with the same report.

I like the coating but it's not pure glossy so if that's what you want this screen is not for you. I've never owned a pure glossy screen so can't comment on how they compare.
