    This is worth a try

    1. Turn device off

    2. Make sure your headphones are plugged ALL the way in (you should hear a click sound)

    3. Press the on/off button and the volume up button at the SAME TIME

    4. Once the screen is on let the on/off button go

    5. DO NOT let the volume up button go

    6. Wait until the tablet has finished loading all settings up.

    7. Let volume up button go.

    Problem should be fixed now.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply; but unfortunately it didn't work for me, even after several attempts. I have tried several other suggestions and even replaced the speakers; but to no avail!

Under the Test mode button, the green vertical bar responds quite readily but still no sound from the speakers! Thanks again! 44

When your headphones have the green check like this?

Click it and click "Set Default".

Many thanks again; but still have the same problem. The speakers icon in the playback window, has the green check and also 'Default Device' showing.

Very strangely though, there is no mention of 'headphones' in this, or any other window of the 'Sound' or 'Speakers' or 'Volume mixer speakers' sections. This in spite of the headphones working clearly and properly!

Once again many thanks for your input which is much appreciated and hope you can suggest some other possible solutions!

Open the Playback devices again and right click in the body and select Show disabled and disconnected devices.

Try enabling and making each one default.

Followed your Instructions; but both 'Show Disabled Devices' and 'Show Disconnected Devices' boxes as already ticked; so still no mention of headphones in playback or any of the windows or blocks.

In the past, I have tried a complete windows reinstall and also replaced the Bios; but the speaker problem remains!

Many thanks again for your persistance!
