Windows 8 driver for V223W

I just upgraded 2 PCs to W8. One has no problems with an Acer P216H. The other fails to recognize a V223W although the Windows 8 Compatibility site says it is compatible and needs no action! In practice, it works but uses a setting of 1280 x 1024; makes things look very fat!  This can only be changed to 1024 x 768, even worse.

I checked for a driver on the Acer site but all I can find is one for Vista, 2 generations out of date. When I download the Vista driver and follow the instructions for updating my drivers, I get a message that says I already have the best driver!

Please can someone find me a solution?

Many thanks.

Actually, it sounds like video drivers and not monitor drivers that you need. What brand comptuer are you using?

Sounds like good thinking - outside my box at least.

Built on an ECS A780LM-M2 board powered by an AMD Athlon II and chipset AMD AS780 & Amd SB710. Can't see any separate reference to video controller.

... and, folloing up your hint, I just now tried to update the dispplay adapter driver.

Result was "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date".

Adapter is "ATi Radeon 3000 Graphics (Microsoft Corporation- WDDM v1.1)"

    ERRRR??????????

It is up to date after updating to Win8??? Ok...here is what you do. Contact ATI (or AMD as they are now called) and ask them if they have "Windows 8 drivers" for this card. It doesn't sound like it was updated. It sounds like it is still in Win7 mode.

    OoooPSsss

I just realized that I'm working on MY PC - the WRONG one.

I moved over to it bacause my chair is more comfortable and I thought I was only going to ask questions, not try it out.

    VV sorry

I am now back on the sick PC and I have checked both drivers. Windows says that both are up to date so, as you suggest, I shall now procede to check out from ATI. By the way, I first bought an AMD product in 1983 and I believe that they bought up ATI around 3 years ago.

    Off I go.
