Known issue with Acer B286HK 4K monitor and AMD graphics drivers?

Hi, I'm trying to determine if there is a known incompatibility with the Acer B286HK (4K 28") monitor, with AMD graphics cards and drivers? I bought this monitor over a week ago and began having severe video lock-ups, black-screens, and other issues as soon as I began to use it with anything 3D/game related. (After that I also began to see problems on bootup that seem to be part of the same issue).

I've been troubleshooting it hard without success; the problems occur at 2160P and 1080P resolution, with Displayport, HDMI and DVI-D cables, with AMD drivers 14.4, 14.9 and 14.11beta. I never had trouble previously on a 23" Samsung monitor at 1080P and have found nothing wrong with registry settings, OS, etc. in my troubleshooting. I should also note that the computer in question has been used as a mining rig since I bought it in January and is equipped with four (non-Crossfired) AMD R9 290X's. The video problems are arising, typically, very early in launching a game or even just looking at the Video options screen of a game without touching the controls. The GPU's are not even remotely being stressed in these cases, compared to what they've been under 24/7 the past year.

So I think I've either got a faulty monitor (which is a shame, because it's beautiful when it works), or AMD has some work to do cleaning up their drivers. It would be nice to know which, because I can be patient if it's the latter, but if the former I do need to get it returned.

Is anyone else using an Acer B286HK with AMD drivers? What is your experience? Any information would be appreciated!!

UPDATE: Swapping monitors around between systems today, I was able to confirm the issue is not with the monitor, and likely not a driver issue either. Instead I believe the problem must have originated with some software installations a few days ago coinciding with the start of the problem. Unfortunately I have a lot of digging to do (I installed quite a bit in rapid fire, and so many System Restores were generated that they don't even go back to that timeframe.)

I have had basically the same issues with my monitor, ie, turning all black on and off for a second, flickering, etc. And after many tests thinking it was the video card (Radeon R9-270), then windows 8.1, then the monitor itself, it came down to be a faulty displayport cable.

I found out that the wiring for displayport cables is not as simple as hdmi or others, and if it is not done by the standards from displayport.org, it will not get the stamp of DP on the cable.

These cables dont have to be more expensive, etc., they just have to pass their tests. So from now on all my displayport cables will have the DP on them regardless of price.

I hope my experience will help others having these type of problems. I love this monitor.

I went out and bought a certified DP cable at your suggestion. It still blinks on and off randomly.
