Sorry guys, this feel off my radar and was dormant for a while.

Help me understand a few things.

    • Which products do you have? Switch 10 is a base line, but is it a SW5-011, SW5-012, SW5-015...etc
    • The problem is, ever time you boot up the device whether out of sleep or actually waking it up, you get the message please wait for updates to install and it can take how long before it's back into Windows?

    Hi Cory,

First, many thanks for addressing this.

I have the problem on an SW5-012-13M7. The problem started after receiving it back from a warranty service with new firmware. At that time the device had the original system (Win 8.1 if I remember correctly), I have now upgraded to WIn 10.

The problem occurs when booting up the device after a restart or after it has been shut down. It does not happen when coming out of sleep.

The messsage on the acer screen "Please wait while we install a system update" (see photo of screen in earlier post) lasts approximately 54 seconds.  The total boot time before reaching the Windows signin screen for me is 1 minute and 5 seconds.  I therefore surmise that the problem adds about 50 seconds to the boot process, which would otherwise take around 10 seconds.  This is a big loss of performance, especially given that the battery does not last long in sleep mode.

I am convinced that the problem is that the firmware update (or part of it) happens every time the device boots up, and that a new firmware update will therefore be needed to solve it.

Thanks for your attention to this irritating problem, which takes away from a product that I have otherwise been very happy with.

    Hi Cory,

thank you for jumping back here.

As for me, I am using SW5-012-187N. The symtopms are exactly the same as in Tim's case - when the problem has appeared, used Windows version and when this screen is being visible.

If you need more details, just let me know.

    Thanks

     Hubert

    Hi Cory,

    Mine is a SW05-012-11E6.

I have also tried windows 10 but this has not fixed it. Mine has always had this issue since i bought it.

Approx 50 second boot time in total..40 seconds of that being on the preparing an update screen as per my screen shot.

    Thanks,

    Matt.
