Acer Liquid Jade GPS functionality not working.

Hello everyone,

so in my country (Belgium) they made a lot of publicity about the acer liquid jade and its free NavKit of TomTom that came with it. Actually I didn't care about the navigation. Since all my apps get their location information of the wifi-signal I didn't bother the GPS-functionality. But I was very curious about the navigation so I downloaded a map and wanted to try it too.

What I saw was one big disappointment. The map kept saying I was on a spot on the world at which I wasn't at all! I went outside, lifted my hand in the air and nothing changed. I blamed myself of not knowing how to work with the NavKit...

But now, after owning the phone for around 4-5 months, I'm making apps in school and we had to make an app in which we get the longitude and latitude of the android device. Again, mines failed in getting the longitude and latitude... I asked to try another ones app and it didn't work too.

The last step I took were apps called phone tester and GPS status, in which I can check my GPS signal. This ain't working at all. I can't get a single signal. I really can conclude that my GPS functionality doesn't work at all!!!

So, did You guys encounter a similar problem with the Acer Liquid Jade? What did You do? I can't imagine acer sells a phone with a free navigation kit if the GPS functionality ain't working at all!

I am using a Jade S (S56). When I enable GPS it always selects a map of central London initially regardless of my location so that would appear similar to yours. However, as soon as GPS is locked, I do get an accurate position. It is not the fastest though and it could take a minute or two.

I have also used it on a car journey and it navigated to my destination without a problem. I can confirm it does work.

I have just installed 'GPS Status' and it very quickly reported 6 of 12 satellites plus other info. It does sound as though yours may have a problem unfortunately.

Have you checked tapping on GPS label (not on the switch to turn On/Off) if any GPS setting is available?
    Or under geolocation.
    I'm not an Acer employee.

My problem is the same from Hungary.

The GPS did not work. The service threw back that there was nothing wrong with it. Then we installed onto a test program that shows the GPS satellites signals. Of course, the device did not see any satellites. The Google Maps also shows "no gps signal" message. Now i sent back again to the service. I m very disapointed about acer. It seems like not professional. The products are beautiful but the quality of them very bad. I have a Lap top too Aspire V, I have also problem with it, with the mouse pad.

Could you solve your problem with your telephone? I can see you posted your story in March?

    Thanks Marianna
