Hello,

i got the G257HLBIDX monitor like mont ago. Very sharp monitor i do like it very much.

But....

The problem i got is that every time i restart my computer, the monitor start rotating the chanels to find my computer. D-sub -> DVI -> HDMI until it reach the connection i use the computer.

For example if i use D-sub to connect my computer to the monitor and i restart the computer, then the monitor search for connection in DVI then HDMI and then go back to D-sub. Its very anoing because my computer restart for 5.7 sec and the monitor take 15 or 20 sec to check all chanels. So every time i install update or somthing the monitor check all chanels until it reach the original i set him to.

Is there a way to ugrade my firmware or somthing like that so i can set the auto detect function off ? Its very anoing

    Lafoza,

We tested one of our G257HL that we have and this was our findings:

It scans when there is no computer connected and it scanned one time when we were using VGA and then switched the connection to HDMI. It did not go through the scan process again while connected to the same HDMI connection, it remembered the input.

Are you using any kind of splitter or switchbox that might be causing it to scan?

If not, and you are using more than one computer plugged into this monitor?

    Lafoza,

Access the OSD (on screen display) of the monitor and set the input as whatever connection you are using, that way it will always use that connection.

No . It does not work. If i did not have my display on the proper input true the OSD menu i wasnt going to see anything.

May be my english its bad and i did not explane it properly. I will make video and show you. The monitor start searching for chanel when i restart my computer. But works fine if i shutdown then start it again. Very anoing . I can`t shut it down every time i need to restart ....

Will be back with clip link with the problem so you can see

    Lafoza,

It could possibly be the video connection on the computer that is causing that to happen. If it is not immediately sending out a signal from it the monitor is going to search for a good signal. Do you have another monitor you can test this issue with, if the other monitor does the same thing it is most likely the computer itself just not sending a signal immediately upon powering on.

You might need to go in to your BIOS and set the primary display as whatever video card you are using, if you are using one, instead of onboard video.

I bet every computer on the world stop for 1 sec to transmit video when its restarted until the motherboard power is on again. I have use my computer dual monitor with TV . When i restart the TV never change the chanel and i can see even how is the bios loading and stuff. When i remove the monitor and use only TV have no problem aswell. I got problem only on the new monitor. My old monitor is Acer aswell 24 inch Acer S243HL i got 0 problems of that kind with him. When i set the input to HDMI 1 or HDMI2 or D-sub it alwasy stay on this chanel until i manualy change it.

Very very anoing to get new Monitor and get this Auto search chanel thingy when i restart the computer. The monitor is great for its price range may be even the best at this price...... but ...

Anyway i got the monitor to my office and try it on my office computer. Absolutly same thing. Just start searching for chanel when i restart.

I understand that this may be is "user friendly" feature so ppl do not need to press button to set the proper chanel they use the monitor on.

Can this be fixed like option in the OSD menu "Auto chanel search" - On/Off  or just when the monitor is set Input i want to use to not change until i do it manualy , like every other monitor.

edited: My motherboard is SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1 and the Video output is set to PCI-e where my VGA is

    Thanks Justin,

you are right. When i use HDMI cable to connect to the monitor it does not scan when i restart the computer any more.

But i use my HDMI output to connect the computer to TV. Tomorrow i will buy DVI-DVI cable and if the scan start only in D-sub this should solve my problem. I will post tomorrow to tell you what happened.

Anyway this is prety anoing problem:

First - most customers use the HDMI for second display

Second - HDMI cable do not come with the monitor when you purches.

Will be still nice if there is option in the OSD to be able to disable this search or jsut to make it the way HDMI input works and do not scan for other chanels when lose connection for 0.5 sec or so.

I do not use any splitter, switchbox or KVM switch and have just 1 computer connected to this monitor.

Fingers crossed that the search is faulty only for the analog input and work aswell for the DVI as for the HDMI do.

    Will post tomorrow Smiley Happy

So ... i buy DVI cable and try it. It works perfectly as it work with HDMI cable. We can finaly say that the problems is only with the D-sub 15 pin input cable only.

Still you need to fix that or start give ppl that buy this monitor a DVI cable Smiley Happy

Thanks for your help and support "Acer-Justin" for getting workaround on this problem.
