Hi,

I just bought an SSD, but my laptop doesn't have an optical drive, so my only option is to remove my HDD, install the SSD and Install Windows with a bootable USB.

So I set my BIOS to boot all three items of USB first (USB FDD, USB HDD, USB CD-ROM). I tried this with both UEFI and Legacy mode with no success. I also activated the boot mode (F10) but if UEFI was enabled, then boot mode only showed the windows boot manager and in Legacy mode the only USB option was the USB CD-Rom but it didnt work. Everything I tried ended up with a normal Windows start.

PD: -OS to install is Windows 8.1. I'm currently running Windows 8.1

-I made the bootable with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool (also tried with rufus with no success, but only with UEFI mode)

Kind regards,

Oliver

UEFI on Rufus is ok, FAT32 formatting?

if you press F12 at boot, the USB flash drive appears?

try to disable secure boot on UEFI.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

OS that you are trying to install?

which kind of software have you used to create the bootable USB?

    Rufus was on FAT32

Disabling secure boot mode doesn't works.

Even more, now I cant access to boot menu on start.

Ok, so I finally made it work. The combination that worked for me was:

    Rufus -> FAT32

    UEFI Boot

    Disable Secure mode

Computer makes the sound that it knows something is plugged into a USB port. But in looking in My Computer nothing shows and nothing appears on the screen for me to use to start downloading my photos from the phone.

    Found a solution finally

    Install RUFUS
    1. UEFI Boot
    2. FAT32

In Laptop (checked in Acer Aspire 5s)
    1. Disable secure boot
    2. Keep all setting as it is
