AccuWeather app suddenly stopped playing videos??

This app has worked perfectly until now. It will not play any of the videos, giving me the "error" message, "The video you are trying to watch is currently unavailable. Please try back later". Needless to say, "later" never comes. Does anyone know how I can get this app to work correctly??

Thank you very much!

Accuweather is a forecast app not a video player, are you sure about the error?

Yes. That is the message I get. As you can imagine, I'm very "non-tech". I got into the world of computers/tablets late in life, so I'm really uninformed about these things. I think the problem may have started when I tried to get rid of an app I thought I didn't need. I got a "warning" message saying, "If you un-install this app, other apps may start to misbehave. Are you sure you want to continue?" Not knowing how true this could be, I went ahead with it. I contacted the AccuWeather people, who told me to contact Acer about the problem, since it was pre-installed on the tablet. So, here I am.

Also, if you would be so kind...Why would un-installing an app cause other apps to stop working correctly?? This seems like REAL BS to me. How far advanced are these things if something so simple can cause such major problems?

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help with this!!

    that's pretty strange.

i'm still sure that AccuWeather is not related to video warning and also on system application that can be uninstalled on android systems.

about an app causing other apps to not work, this can happen with Acer BYOC application if i'm right.

by the way, you can revert everything to factory default but you need to backup your data, since this will wipe everything.

    it's easy to do:

    settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

I wonder if Accuweather is trying to show an animated weather map? They may have recently switched from Flash to HTML5 or something...

I won't bother you again, but I failed to tell you that AccuWeather has weather related videos and short video presentations of regional, short-range weather forecasts. Those are the videos that will not play. Other videos play fine. That's why it seems like something to do with the app itself. If I can't find any other solution, I will just have to do the factory reset you suggested.

    Thanks again for your help!

The thing is, I emailed them and, as you might have seen, they told me it was a problem with the Acer product. They didn't say anything about changes to the way their videos are displayed. This problem is really irritating, and it seems no one can see how to fix it, short of a factory reset.

    Thanks for your input!

    ok, now i understand.

as Billsey said, probably it's something related to accuweather video format.

i have accuweather on my Acer device too, can you please post step by step what you do to have this error?

just to try to replicate it.

Sorry to be so long in getting back to you. I just open the app and try to play any of the videos. I still get the error message I told you about. I can't imagine what has happened...

    Thanks for your input!
