After a Windows update last night, my tablet no longer boots up and reads "no bootable device"

When I power on my tablet it reads " no bootable device" and "the boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors." I have had the tablet for just over a year and this is the second this has happened. Last time it occurred the tablet was under warranty and was suppossably fixed. Is there anything I can do?

What tablet do you have? Can you boot into the BIOS setup?

I have an Aspire tablet. I can get to the Bios menu. What should I do from there?

OK, the next step will be to boot from your recovery disk or a Windows install disk, so you can get to the recovery command prompt. That will allow you to verify that the disk and it's partitions are still there. You should have a small recovery partition (100MB to 350MB), your main C: partition and possibly another recovery partition, this time 6-10GB in size. You can use the 'diskpart' command to list disks, partitions and volumes.

If there is no disk visible the disk will have failed and needs replacement. If the disk is there and all partitions we'll go on to trying to repair the boot information.
