I want to buy a Switch 10 E and upgrade a HDD. I've read several informations that point out that it may be possible to install a HDD in a SW3-013-17UE. Do I need a special cable like the 50.L66N5.00? Do i have to solder the connector and is there enough space inside the keyboard dock?

Im very interested in every small detail.

I opened my friends one (not risking mine) to find out! I have some photos but my internet keeps dropping so ill upload them ASAP.

It looks like we have space for a HDD, i can see the metal holding brackets, however the actual keyboard top piece may need additional padding to prevent it moving. Wiring i'm not sure about, but i think it's doable with no soldering at all.

I own this model now and was supprised. The right PCB is there, but the chips are missing. And there is not much space for a Hard disk, but maybe for a SSD pcb. So ther are 2 possibilities:

1st. get the pcb as replacement part. But i don't know how to get it.

2nd. buid in a usb hub  pcb (without connectors) and solder some cables to some nice devices like an usb stick and a 3g Modem. The must be more than one usb port and there is a not soldered place for a 4-port connector.
