The windows 10 upgrade app says that the intel graphics accelerator/driver is not compatible! I am running windows 8.1. Anyone else with this problem or s solution?

    endie,

Here is an article we created in regards to the Windows 10 upgrade for the W3-810 and W3-810P.

Some have made it install on W3 and W510. Glitch seems to be the graphcs driver but apparently there is a way to ignore.

My W3 is still "waiting for notification".

If it's not the chipset, then it's the graphics! Seems that when you look past the fanfare created by Microsoft, it is the same old story: make the new OS unable to run on the previous generation of computers: the "free upgrade" is baloney! Conspiracy theory: once again the computer manufacturers have pursuaded MS to ensure they maximize sales of new computers by making the OS incompatible with Win 7 AND 8.1 hardware.

This time it will backfire, as Win 10 gets ignored and the consumer continues to shift toward tablets and other Operating Systems...Very short sighted.

BTW here is the Intel Community Thread.

The Windows 10 installation failure ("This PC can't run Windows 10") specifically calls out the "Intel (R) Graphics Media Accelerator".

This is clearly an Intel issue and appears to affect anything with an Intel Z2760 SOC inside (Acer W3, W510).

Nothing new, the 2760 was 64 bit capable but Intel never released the thermal management driver needed for a ventless design.

Apparently some had luck uninstalling and deleting the Intel driver then installing Windows 10.

Does seem odd since other than build 9940, my W3 had no problem with the other prevue builds.

For Windows 8.1 Upgrade, the German Acer-Site  recommended this:

    http://acer-de.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32069/~/intel-grafiktreiber-blockiert-windows-8.1-update

It was indeed deleting the Intel driver before Update. It also works with Windows 10 Upgrade, I just did it with a netbook with GMA. However , it only works with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, wich delivers a poorer video quality.

What happens with the GMA can be followed here:

Well somebody fixed something and does not seem to have been Intel. About 10am I turned my W3 on and it started updating then installing. About 5:45 pm it finished. Along the way it complained it needed 9GB more memory by was able to use the 64GB micro SD card.

Still has the same Intel GMA driver from 2013.

After you posted this I tried... and succeded. Just played some FreeCell to see how graphics are working, and they do a pretty good job.

I'm running Win10 on an old desktop (cobbled together from various bits over the last few years) and my 2 year old Acer Aspire P3. The upgrade of my old desktop was flawless, the P3 was a nightmare, update didn't work, got stuck in s boot loop and has to do a fresh install. There is no conspiracy between MS and manufacturers to make you buy the latest hardware, problems seem to be with Acer hardware.

I had no problem with my even older Aspire One 532h but I had expanded the RAM from 1 to 2 GB. I find that 2GB is a minimum for 32 bit and 4 GB for 64 bit.

P3 should have 2GB, i3 processor, & 60GB disk which certainly should be capable.

    Good luck.
