I am desperate to go back to windows 8.1 but how can I, please can you help?  God I wish companies gave out discs like the old days.

I have the serial number but support didn't want it unless it was from the box lol

Its 64gb and partition was wiped with windows 10 install.

Unfortunately I'm uk based so that link doesn't like the code :-(

    Acer recovery media
if you are in the US you can buy it:
    http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/eRecovery

if you are outside the US, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:
    http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/#_ga=1.157815354.1650522051.1412414371

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Worth noting the recovery media will take you back to the original install state... You'll have to do all the updates and upgrades again from there. So be prepared to spend a bit of time. Smiley Happy

    An update for you all,

I contacted Acer support today to try to get a recovery disc, I was told, 'Installing Windows 10 tc preview voids the warranty'  and that for a recovery disc I will have to pay over £50.

As a result of this, I will be selling the W510 with Windows 10 on it and NEVER purchase another Acer product.

How the hell does installing windows 10 void a warranty??

He was a stroppy **** too, nice customer service Acer!

EDIT, by the way, dont throw away your boxes, Acer expect you to keep every box for every product, sounds reasonable!  Acer said 'Whats the SNID'

me, I dont have it, but there is a code under the W510

Acer, I need the code on the box

Me, I dont have the box, only the code on the device

Acer, I cant help without code on the box

so snid on tablet no good then?  still angry!

Either the serial number should be in the BIOS under Information but may need to scroll down. Should begin with NK...

A 32GB W510 should have come with 3 recovery disks. A 64GB had a recovery partition. Do you have either ?

If not, go to http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/eRecovery and enter your serial number. In the US it is about $20.

BTW the SNID is on mine on the bottom by the power connector in tiny print.

ps I may have the box in the pile in the garage but whenever I buy something like a W510 I scan the labels on the box and save as a jpg. Lots easier.

pps it is the same serial number as in the BIOS and the same SNID as on the bottom just easier to display on the monitor.

Yup I know. I tried to tell him that too, he was just being very difficult. It has put me off Acer for life!

Too bad. Event though the marketting and PR needs a lot of help, as am an "early adopter" Acer often seems to be a generation ahead. (sometimes being a gen ahead of the support does not help though) and I think the ergonomics guy got lost somewhere trying to meet the QA guy.

Of course they also kind of skip over it being a good idea to pull a full recovery flash (FAT-32) and a full system image (NTFS) before major changes and creating a restore point before minor ones.

Could go on for a while, but usually when I need something, they are often on sale and the technology is as good as anyones.

Take my Switch 12: try to find in the advertising anything about what having a Core-M processor means. Or that Intel finally figured out how to do 64 bit thermal management. Or that the BIOS has Legacy mode. All the sans coulottes will see is that you can't use the keyboard while charging without some mirrors.

Heck even the new Microsoft Surface has vents (just little ones) and the Asus T200 is still Bay Trail. (/rant)

I can second that. I have Acer W511 64 gb and I tried to install Windows 8.1. I still have 2 problems with display driver and support just says that as I have installed Windows 8.1 myself I am not supported.

What happens is they just have not updated drivers properly and the bug is still there....

Thinking about going back down to Windows 8...

You can get all the information about your Computer, what is istalled and the Serial Numbers, Registration numbers and if your Security and programs are up to date. with belarcadvisor.com  It is free You can print out the entire results, which update every time you run it. Takes up very little space. This program is used by some of the Bigest Corporations, Banks, USPS, Armed Forces and many state and federal websites. Saved my bacon many times.
