Acer W4 820 login failure

Hey guys,

Basically my W4 started malfunctioning to the point where I couldn't login; the touch keyboard wouldn't appear when I went to login and when I used the accessibility touch keyboard I could enter my password but it'll eventually say something about group failure.

I don't currently have access to a dvd drive and recovery discs so I tried to install Windows 10 but obviously I don't have a valid key. Either way the Windows 8 install was irrecoverable, how do I get the W8.1 key to re-install with recovery discs? I have the original box and maybe I can find the receipt to show that I did purchase it.

IIRC the key is incorporated into the UEFI BIOS on yours, so if you do the recovery from the disks it'll automatically use the correct key. Once you get the recovery finished you can do about a bazillion updates to get current and then the W10 upgrade should appear.
