Liquid E3 screen unresponsive, won't wake up or hard reset

Hi,

My Liquid E3 is acting strange.

The screen is black and doesn't wake up when I press the power button. Even if I hold it down for a long time it won't power down (or do anything else).

I read about a hard reset but when I push and hold the power key and down volume button it makes the sound of taking a screenshot! (As it normally would for that combination of key presses.)

The phone is still functioning to a certain degree - I can use the web access of Whatsapp but when I try and call the phone, it goes straight to voicemail (without ringing).

Of course the Liquid E3 has a built in battery so I can't try the old trick of taking the battery out! And, I have no way of accessing the serial number so I am unable to contact "official" Acer support!

The red LED comes on if I plug the phone in to charge.

Any suggestions???

you can try to power it down, it's just a matter of try.

when you are sure that system is awake, press once the power button then tap on the screen around 2-3 centimeters from the top.

then wait around 15-20 seconds, if it vibrates it's powered down, so you can try to boot again pressing power button.

I tried what you said but it doesn't do anything unfortunately...

Oh, and actually the phone is working - I just had a missed call that I couldn't answer!

It seems like it is an issue with the screen which worries me that it will be something not repairable.

Hi,

OK, I've been trying to get that app running to remote control into the phone but am having issues getting it to work. My Java security settings are blocking the screencast running: "Your security settings have blocked a self signed application from running.""

Trying to remedy that but I also noticed that the screencast app needs the phone to be rooted to get access to controls on the phone so not sure even if I get it to work if it'll be able to shut the phone down...

no root needed as far as i know for this tool but since it's an old software, probably android 4.4 has more security that can block it.

I've got the Java app launching now but it's not talking to the phone!!

The tutorial is out of date as it refers to the Android SDK which is now "Android Studio" and I can't find the tool it talks about to get the computer connected to the android device!!

I'm working on it...

adb.exe is under platform tool folder on android SDK/studio

but i'm fearing that ADB is disabled by deafult on android devices and if it's not enabled on your phone.....you are at a dead end.

I found adb.exe - it was stashed away in a different folder than the tutorial referred to.

So, got everything running finally and it's not looking good, When screencast launches, there is just a black screen where it should show my phone.

To double check, I tried my wife's phone and it worked fine with the screencast app.

I would seem like I am looking at a broken screen?

Any ideas anything else I can try? The only thing I can think of is to wait until the battery dies and then try a harad reset from powered off status?

If screencast has a black image, the problem is not the screen but the graphic adapter on your device.

at this point, let the battery discharge and after charging for about 30 minutes, try to boot.

OK, that's what I was thinking - I will let the phone discharge and then see if I can get anywhere from there.

Well, after 4 days the battery finally died...

I charged for half an hour. Tried to boot - and the exact same thing is happening!!

The screen itself if functional - if I press the power button and swipe as I would normally to unlock the phone I hear a chime telling me that it has worked!
