Hello, I have a problem with my windowsc7 profile
When I enter my password I get I message saying

The user profile failed the logon
User profile can not be loaded

I have Google how to fix it and the fix seems to be boot into safe mode
by pressing f8 or f5 but I have tried this and I don't get any menu it just loads to the
windows Logon screen

So I can't seem to load safe mode is there anything else I can try?
I do still have my windows 7 disk used to install windows 7onto the PC from around 14 months ago
If that can be of any help?

I still have a lot of data on the PC that is not backed up so I don't want to
wipe the internal HDD

Is there any way I can copy my files to my external HDD as I really don't want to
Lose them

My PC is an Acer xc-603

thank you

Did your computer come pre-installed with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?

So to get your files off of there to your external HDD, you can access a command prompt and then type

    copy c:\*.* g:

Of course I'm assuming your external HDD has the drive letter of g. You'll have to use the appropriate drive letter if it's not g. I have no way of knowing what the drive letter of your external drive is.
To find out the drive letter of your external HDD, you would open a command prompt and type

    diskpart
    list vol
    exit

To get your windows 7 installation DVD to boot, you'll probably have to go in to BIOS settings and enable the "Boot Menu".

On my computer, I press the <<delete>> key on the keyboard at the Acer screen to get in to BIOS settings. Not sure if it's the same on yours.

thanks for the reply, I would prefer not to copy the file using command prompt as I have never used it before and would not want to risk lose of data

it shows system restore I remember making a restore point around 10 months ago would that fix my login problem?

if that was to work would I still have all my data files pics, videos etc...
up till now or would it only have the data files that where on the HDD at the time of the restore point?

    thanks

I honestly don't know about restore points.  I don't use restore points. I keep it disabled.  I keep my data automatically backed up on a daily basis and system image backup is automatically done weekly.  So I would never be in the situation that you're currently in.

Maybe someone else can answer or google would know.

    Hi,

Yep, pressing F8 will get you to the screen needed to load up into Safe Mode.

You need to keep on tapping that key furiously once the Acer logo disappears (or shortly before it disappears)

Don't just hold it down, you need to keep tapping it.

Another way to force it to show up is if you miss getting the safe mode menu to pop up and it starts to load Windows normally, shut the computer down while it's loading windows.  That will force it to present you with the Windows did not strtup properly screen, from there you should be able to choose Safe Mode.

The error you're getting has to do with a registry setting that need to be changed.  Follow this document once you get into Windows:

    Hope this helps...

About system restore, it doesn't touch your personal files.  So any pictures, documents, music, movies etc... would stay.  Now, there's always the chance of something going wrong...

System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and registry settings. It can also make changes to scripts, batch files, and other types of executable files created under any user account on your computer. System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore the files from a backup.
