Adding second drive to M5910
I have a Aspire desktop M5910 with single removable drive bay. is it possible to add a second drive to the spare bay,
I suppose it will need as caddy, where are these obtainable? Would the drive have to match the fitted drive WD 0.5G

i think you don't have enough space to add another removable drive but you can add an HDD inside the M5910 case.
if you open the left side panel you will see a HDD caddy where to add 2 HDDs (look at the right side of pic), you don't need to match the storage size of the installed HDD.

That looks like a 2.5" bay, is that correct? Don't want to start dismantling right now as its 'in use'.
The reason I asked about matching is in case it makes a difference to RAID array.

Thinking about it tis probobly a 3.5 Drive.

3.5"
oh....you didn't mentioned the RAID ARRAY, so....yes must be the same.
are you sure that the motherboard will support hardware RAID?
if you are thinking at an HDD RAID0....go to a single SSD, way better.
if you are thinking at an HDD RAID1....a NAS probably is a better choice if you want to save important data.

To be honest no I am not sure about the Raid array.
Guess I was confussed by this, which is to allow Software RAID on a single drive?
Its getting sluggish these days just wanted to give it a bit more headroom see if that Helps.
I work with 2 or 3 Machines and have thought about NAS unit. Do they come with software to handle transfers etc?

ok, i gave a check and your system will support hardware RAID (at least BIOS has the option).
Storage Type support:•1.HDD : Support RAID 0/1/5/10So it's up to you.in my opinion a NAS is the right choice if you have to share files between 2-3 PCs and having this files not linked to only one PC.about transfering files, copy/paste - drag&drop, like on your PC; you need simply to create a common Workgroup, activate windows sharing and create network folders or drivers.it's really easy and way more reliable than PC.Brands?Qnap, Synology (linux ARM or Intel based) 2-4 HDD bays.they comes also with ***** or download software based.I'm not an Acer employee.0
