I have a A1-810 (WW-GEN1) with 4.2.2. Is there any way to upgrade to 4.4 now ?

I have downloaded the following file. Is it safe to install it on my tablet? I heard someone brick his tablet when installing this file.

    By the way, on the ACER support web-site. only the upgrade file for the PA-CUS version is provided. Does this mean that the WW-GEN1 is stuck with 4.2.2. ?

    about bricking, can happen but this depends if you rooted your device or made any changes on system files.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

     

    I went ahead and installed the update. Unfortunately it ended in disaster.

     

    After flashing the zip file.  The tablet rebooted and went into a reboot loop. I pressed volume up and power buttons together  to stop it and re-do the installation. This time after reboot the tablet gave a black screen and never respond again no matter what button I pressed

     

    I inserted a paper clip into the reset hole but there was no response at all.   The tablet was totally dead.

    Connect the AC charger, then press power button + volume up to enter recovery and try a factory data reset.

    No luck.

     

    Cannot wake the tablet up.

    If you didn't get the file directly from Acer, you have no idea what's in there. Smiley Sad

    1.   The update file was downloaded from ACER website.

     

    2.   The tablet is already out of warranty.

    I hope its OK to post my problem here since it is pretty much exatcly the same.

     

    I also have an Acer A1-810 and because i never got any update prompts I wen to

    and downloaded the Acer.AV0K0.A1-810.RV0BRC01.WW.GEN1 OS.

     

    After installing it in Recovery mode the Tablet would not boot. It just showed the acer logo indefinitely.

     

    So  then I went ahead and downloaded Acer.AV052.A1-810.RV31RC03.WW.GEN1 so that I can at least go back to 4.2 Jelly Bean.

    But after flashing I am now stuck in a Bootloop. Factory reset/wipe data is not helping.

     

    Any ideas on what I should do?

     

    Edit: My stock firmware should be for RV18RC07. But I cannot find it on the Acer website

    probably trying to flash back to 4.2, you mixed the bootloader and now can't boot correctly.

     

    if you are under warranty, contact Acer support service, if not.....send me a private message.

    I returned the unit to ACER service centre and they asked for nearly U$200 to repair it.  This is just ridiculous.

     

    Given so many people got this problem, I suspect this is an inherent problem of ACER's upgrading software.
