graphic cards

I just bought an Aspier XC-605 with the intention of adding a better aftermarket sound card since I do a lot of recording. Now I find out from talking to the guys and gals in India that 1) I void my warranty if I do it myself and 2) they don't know if it possible to do it even if I go to a factory-authorized technician. There doesn't appear to be room on the back for a card -- the sound card I bought (an ASUS PCI-Express card) has six jacks on the back; the stock sound card has three. Am I missing something here?

Some audio cards has a low profile bracket too, you only need to unscrew the normal and put the low one.

    what's your Asus model?

Xonar DSX. I haven't opened the box yet because I may have to return it for a refund. But while the stock card has three jacks, this one has five and I can't imagine it replacing the Realtek that came with the system. Maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for your help.

By the way, Acer tech support has been totally clueless with this, including the support in India and the support in the U.S.

I just got ahold of a photo of the back of the unit diagrammed with all the components and labels. It appears that there's one PCI expansion slot where the antennas for the wifi currently exsit. I know they wanted this unit to have a small footprint but this is ridiculous. There's no screws from the back to unbolt the antennas, meaning I have to open the case, and god knows what I'll have to do to open up the knockout. I give up. (By the way, tech support was supposed to send me an email with a photo of the back but they didn't. I googled and googled til I found one). And there's no way to respond except by going through India. And there's no way to reach anyone in support in San Jose. And their user manual is about the worst I've ever seen.

    Low-profile bracket x 1

so you have one and you will be able to install it, don't worry about the 6 plug instead of 3.

remember to disable the Realtek on board sound from BIOS before boot to windows.

Nice sound card with op-amp socket, i would try OPA2134PA Burr Brown, in my opinion great Hi-Fi OPA.

Thanks. I've actually decided against putting in the sound card. I discovered that there's also a slot at the top of the computer but there's no screws to unbolt the knockout so I'm giving up. Instead, I've been looking at the Asus Xonar U7 external sound card which has the same specs as the internal card (actually 114db SNR instead of 104db for the internal card). Do you know about this unit? By the way, I clicked the kudos button for you but I don't know if anything happened.
