Hi, I have an Acer a500 tablet and have been having trouble with the internet. I can't update via the internet either, I always get the message Network Coverage is Currently Poor no matter how close to my router I am. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I have the most current firmware version. I have android 4.0.3 and image version ACER_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1. If you can help that would be great! Thanks!

That is the one then. It'll extract to a file called update.zip which you place (unextracted) in the root of your SD card. You then boot into recovery mode and have it do the update.

The message appears because Acer has taken the update servers off line for these older models. All updates are available as downloads from the support sites though, just no more automatic ones.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for replying. I looked on the update page but its a tad confusing. How can I tell which update I need, if any?

The big updates are OS updates. You can check your version in Settings; About (I think, down at the bottom of the list IIRC). If you are running less than 4.0 then you can update, though you want to update one step at a time.

Okay, I have android 4.0.3. So when I look at the o.s. updates for ICS there are a few there. I'm thinking I need RV05RC01.RV21RC03.PA.CUS1?

Because my current version is ACER_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1 and it says in the download "This image is only can be updraged from Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1. Please download and read SD image upgrade manual from document page to upgrade this image."

This is the right update for me right? Thanks for your help. Smiley Happy

Hi, Jennie3. I guess Acer took the survers they used to update the tablets wirelessly offline so you won't be able to update via wifi anymore. You'd probably have to update using a micro sd card. I tried to update to the most recent version via this method but was not able to/received dead android bot during instalation so I'm not sure if the version listed above would work for you either but it might.

The key is to get the correct update file for your current OS version. Double check to make sure before you start.
