I have been told in a shop that I cannot link my Acer A1 810 to my TV as it has no MHL technology.

I read on here though that all I need is a micro HDMI to HDMI cable. Which is correct?

    Hi su1,

You can find list of MHL supported devices here: http://www.meetmhl.com/devices.aspx

    I can't find A1-810 though...

As with HDMI support, yes you can use micro HDMI to HDMI to connect to your TV.

So just to be clear....I can link to my TV with a micro HDMI lead whether or not my tablet and TV are MHL. They are two separate things?

    2 separate things.

MHL is a standard via microUSB cable to send video/audio streaming

HDMI is just for video/audio, more classic connection to AV devices.

    I prefer HDMI.
    I'm not an Acer employee.

I just want to stream a movie from the Acer to the TV. What do I need. Is it just a micro HDMI to HDMI lead? Is my Acer capable of this?

Yes, the microHDMI to HDMI cable lets you display on a TV the same thing that's on the tablet.
