Hello I'm here again and was wondering if there will ever be a android 5.0 lollipop release for the Tab 8 this year, or if there is a specific release date for the newest models in the iconia tab series?....

There is unlikely to be an upgrade release until after they have scrubbed bugs on a new, lollipop based, tablet. I don't believe any new tablets have yet been announced, so I doubt there will be any published info for quite a while. When is the next big show? Maybe they'll be announcing something then...

New lollipop tablet? You mean the just released iconia tab 10 which was suppose to have lollipop?

Hmm, according to Amazon it has KitKat... Axer's site just says Android. Notebook Check says "All Iconia Tab 10 tablets are powered by Android 4.4".

Eh I don't know, during the time it was announce and it was released all the website sources were saying it was to come with lollipop or at least get an update sometime later, but that's besides the point you said they were having a lollipop tablet soon what might that be? And also is there ever to be an update for the tab 8?

    Hi,

Two Acer tabs based on Intel chip will have Lollipop : B1-720 and A3-A30.

Dunno about Tab8 if it will be updated, but if it's like other Acer devices, do not expect any Android version upgrade.

The b1-720 doesn't even have an Intel processor it uses mediatek and the a3 a30 was said to have come with lollipop but didn't and why make one Intel tab have an upgrade why not all well aside from the a1-830 I guess...

I don't think Acer has announced any Lillipop plans yet. We all still have to wait. Of course, my A100 and B1-710 are way too old. Smiley Happy

Well there appears to be lollipop ROMs for the b1-820 and the a3-a30 models.  I just really hope for the tab 8 models to get the updates soon.

Those (of course) aren't supported and void your warranty when you install them. Acer just made a Facebook post mentioning new product announcements in about a week, so maybe Lollipop tablets will be part of that announcement (though it could be completely different).

Its just that since 5.0 is a very important update for people who have x86 Intel devices I just want to get the update ASAP but I can have patience as well so hopefully every day or every other day this thread can be posted in with questions and updates about the lollipop update or any other for the tab 8 device.

Guess your right they're releasing new lollipop tablets, the b1-820 literally has the same specs as the b1-810 except lollipop so that's kinda stupid and there's a new iconia tab 10, I really wish Acer hurries up and releases the lollipop update for the main newer A1 devices...

We'll probably get an announcement that they are working on an update once the new ones ship, though it'll likely be after they've scrubbed some bugs in the new ones before they'll actually release new images for the older designs.

I understand, its just that the 2nd One 8 is literally the same as the 1st one except it has lollipop Acer could have just released the update for the original one 8 devices instead of wasting there time on this.

I think lollipop update is very important to 64 bit devices specially Iconia Tab 8 FHD to maximize its capability and take advantage of 64 bit...

Indeed, couldn't have said it better myself and also for apps like dolphin emulator which needs a Intel device with lollipop and 2 gbs of ram for the devs to make a x86 Jit for the emulator and other things as well, point is WE NEED THIS UPDATE!!!!!

So what's the latest on the tab 8 getting lollipop?

I see there is two more new iconia tabs coming out with lollipop http://www.zdnet.com/article/computex-2015-acer-launches-two-new-iconia-one-android-tablets/ despite just last month the second iconia one 8 was announced with lollipop as well, so is the tab 8 getting 5.0 anytime soon?

    Hello

Any news about this ? Or even 4.4 is coming out? The tablet takes a lot of energy, so really would be nice to have lollipop to consume less battery !!!!

Or is this Acer's policy, that once produckt is published, then there is no any new updates available. if so, I will change this Acer's tab to new one !!!!
