I finally got my Acer Aspire to connect wirelessly to my cable broadband gateway. When it connected to the wireless network I chose on the screen,.,.something came up saying did I want to use Acer Direct Network Sharing? I turned it on as yes as I was trying to share a wireless printer between my 2 laptops. I want to turn it off but I cannot find it on the computer. I was alarmed as when I checked my gateway...I saw something new called APR//RARP table, which had an unknown MAC address and lots of wireless connections as in addresses of 192.x.x.x. I did not give permission for for this MAC addrfess and IP of 10.88.128.1 or 10.253.115.1 . Does anyone know what the Acer Aspire sharing means and how to turn it off? I did block the mac address in my gateway but I am uncomfortable thinking I allowed Acer to open a network page using my Internet connections and then saw no place to turn it off.

    techgal,

Is your question in regards to your E5-511P notebook you have, or a newer notebook?

    techgal,

My research has led me to believe this has something to do with our Acer Cloud applications.

"Direct access to any of their Windows PCs from any of their other devices. They can upload and download files on any Android, iOS, or Windows device, whether at home or on the road, using Wi-Fi or their cellular network service."

There is an orange ICON that reads "Acer Quick Access" (when rolling the pointer over it)  Click and the wifi controls open.  WiFi and network sharing can be shut off there.  I don't know if this is what you are looking for.  I have  a new aspire as well.  Learning...
