Touchpad scroll not working on Aspire VA70

I cannot get the scroll function to work on my Aspire V3-731-4473. I had this problem maybe a year ago too. There is a small section on the side of the touchpad that used to be for scrolling, now it functions like touching anywhere else on the pad. After dealing with this for a while I finally started to troubleshoot and I don't remember what I did, but I managed to get two finger scrolling to work, even though that wasn't how it used to be it was better than nothing. I recently factory reset my computer because it was getting slow, unresponsive, and just old in general. After resetting it I cannot get the touch pad to scroll either way. I have updated the drivers, I have installed different drivers, I have messed with every setting I can find, I have uninstalled the drivers and restarted. All of the help I find online shows options that I don't have under the ELAN tab. I have tried ELAN drivers and Synatics. I am completely lost. Every forum I find this question on has a bunch of answers that don't seem to work.

    GreenJ35,

I went into the Elan touchpad options for a similar unit and found two finger scrolling under the multifinger tab, do you not have that tab for your touchpad using the Elan drivers? The only option for it was an enable check box with either a check in it or not.

I did not see an option for single finger scrolling listed in there, by chance.

    GreenJ35,

You shoul dbe able to click on the options button in that window. For it to be greyed out that gives thought of driver issues. Please download the ELAN drivers from our website, if that's what originally shipped with it, and save the download to the desktop. Uninstall the touchpad/mouse drivers and then install the drivers you downloaded from our site.

If you aren't sure, when you bring up the section that has your drivers listed, click on this and it will tell you for certain: Need to know the hardware on your system to choose the right drivers?
