    Hello,

I'm not an expert in tablet. Have you watched this video about Iconia Tab W500?

I'm not positive, but I believe the W510 needs a signed UEFI boot image. What image are you trying to boot from?

Boot windows normally and see if it can see the flash drive. If not you may have a bad cable.

I can see the flashdrive in windows/(explore) Do it have to be a special usbflash?

The main thing i want is to do a factory reset with the usbflash. I have all the discs i need but i dont own a external dvd.

Is it possible to copy the files from the discs and make a factory reset?

I boot from a usbflash with the 3 recoverydiscs. Whats UEFI? Isnt that instead of BIOS?

I novice when it comes to PC/tablets.

In general it will only boot a Microsoft or Acer signed image and from a drive that is not considered "removable".

I have booted my 510 from a lot of things but not a "removable" drive.

But isnt nr 2 and 3 "removable"?

The main thing is that my iconia does not find anything but :Windows boot manager

There are no other options but 1:Windows boot manager

Can someone please help me with the settings in BIOS?

A CD/DVD is not considered "removable" the same way a flash or SD card is. The "Memorex" was a 120 GB SDD in an external case and also not considered "removable". The only non-removable thumb drives are the "Workspace" drives like the ones from Kingston and IronKey.

Ok! I've manage to boot from a usb-flash now! Then i borrowed a usb cdrom from a friend but i cant boot from that.

When i press F12 on startup, the only thing i see is:

    1 w boot manager

    2 usb flashdrive

Where shall i connect the cdrom? in the micro-usb or the usb-port on the keyboard?

yiiihaaa! I finally managed to get the w510 boot from the cd-rom. The factory reset worked perfectly.

But now on startup i get a errormessage:

    Alaunch.exe

In swedish: en hänvinsning returnerades från severn= a reference returned by the server

I just click OK and it works fine but what is is, Alaunch?

You will need to provide external power to the CD-ROM for it to work, there is not enough power on the USB port to run it's motor.

You dont need external power to a cd-rom, it worked great with a "usbpowerd"cd-rom Smiley Wink

The only thing that bothers me now is the errormessage AlaunchX.exe at startup.

Anyone who know what it is?

I believe it's part of the Acer Cloud or Acer Portal packages. It should be in your C:\OEM\Preload\Command folder and might be no longer needed with updated software. It's started by registry entries IIRC. If you launch msconfig.exe you should find an entry in Startup for it and you can test what happens if you disable it.
