(Liquid E1) Acer Life Weather widget consuming 30% to 35% of CPU while not used at all

According to the Android SDK's CPU monitor, com.acer.android.widget.weather2 uses up around a third of the CPU (user and kernel combined), while i'm not even using the widget at all (not placed on any of the home screens, never even used it).

This happens regardless of an internet connection, and so it permanently handicaps my phone. I tried to Force Stop the Weather app, which stopped the process and significantly improved the CPU usage. After a while, however, the process is automatically started again, and continues to use up a third of the CPU.
Terribly optimized OEM software seems a pretty common thing these days. What can i do to get rid of it, other than rooting my device?

instead of only force stoping, disable it, if possible.

    there aren't many other options.

I don't get the option to disable it, i can only stop it, just like most stock apps.

    Hi cvbbot,

I haven't heard of this issue before. I would suggest restoring the phone and if it continues to give you trouble, you may need to contact Acer Service.

as far as i remember, this was an old issue but it was fixed with some updates of the application.

i read others having this issue in the past but was some years ago. Smiley Happy
