Hello There:

I bought the e-recovery usb from acer to recover a aspire switch 10 2 in 1 tablet.  After i eerased the partition of the HDD by mistake.

Anyway, everything seems to go fine till the wizard asks to unplug usb and reboot

I got this message:

"Windows Boot Manager

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix this problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.

2. Choose your language settings and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info:  A required device isn t connected or can t be accessed  "

Not sure what changed, i recall updating the BIOS but everything else is the same.

Has anyone had this issue? or Someone please help with a sugestion for a solution?

I¨ve tried to repair with a win 8.1 usb stick and nothing!

I ve also trued to make usb bootables with partition manager to check if there is something in the partition to be changed with no luck (even tried to make the bootables GPT) and nothing

Im kind of desperate

please help

The USB needs to be formatted correctly and needs to be signed. ISOs that come from Microsoft (MSDN) and Acer should have the correct signature. Anything else is iffy. I believe the Switch 10 will also only recognise 32 bit images but not sure about that.

That is good to know!  Thank you

However the USB erecovery should come ready to work no matter what.

I bought the erecovery and didnot work, asked for a replacement, but it still doesnt work.

Have you tried leaving the eRecovery drive in during the reboot? If so have you tried removing it? Smiley Happy

    Hi!

Yes i've tried both ways.... if I left it plugged, the process starts over again (boots from the recovery usb), if  I remove it i got the error in the first post.

Do you think BIOS downgrade could help? is there a way to do it while booting?

The BIOS in ACER website are windows  based upgrades...

is there a way to downgrade without windows?

    Regards

I don't think you need to downgrade the BIOS. It seems like a bit to much is going on and you might be creating other issues for yourself. I would reset the BIOS to defaults and go from there.

I'm not sure how you have the drive currently partitioned or if it's changed at all, but there could be an issue if you've created one giant partition as Windows 8 likes to have a few smaller partitions as well.
