acer aspire one P531h does not come on after power up

My aspire one P531h netbook, running on Win Xp 32 bit,  shows a black screen only after power up and the power led will stay on a steady green. Problems started a while ago as the netbook 'struggled' to boot.  After one or 2 power downs it booted again. Then the battery fails to charge beyond a certain level and now it fails to start up.

I search the web and forum and it seems to be a BIOS problem.  I found instructions on how to flash/update other models but not this one.

I tried:

The power drain method as described by lowendguru on youtube and eslewhere.

I downloaded the new BIOS software, but lack instructions to flash for this model.

Looking forward to hear from from you.

    Hello,

Have you cleaned the DC-in connector of your laptop (contact cleaner spray)?

Yes, I cleaned it. I took the battery off and connect the ac power supply.  The HDD start to spin immediately, but screen stays black.  On pressing the power buton the power LED comes on and the fan start running. Screen stays black.

Above procedure was done with battery only and the results were the same.

    Hello,

Have you tried to connect it to an external monitor or a LCD TV in using the VGA or HDMI port?

[Fn]+[F5] - Display toggle: Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both.

    Hello,

Yes, I tried an external monitor the way you suggested a few times with no success.

I also dismantled the Netbook with caution, disconnected the CMOS battery, momentary shorted the two disconnected battery pins on the mother board and reconnect the battery after about 2 hours.  The goal was to reset the BIOS to default state in case it was purely a BIOS error, but I had no success.

I appreciate the help and wait for more instructions.

    Thanks
