Hi,

After a recent update when I switch on I cant type anything into the box for the password; restarting it sorts this out and its then fine.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

My XC 605 has been doing the same thing and also has the mouse/audio stutter problem (see elsewhere on this forum) and both seem to have appeared since a recent Windows update. For me I just unplug and plug back in the USB keyboard and it then recognises it. The mouse/audio issue can be solved temporarily by stopping the Intel Technology Access Service process from the Task Manager.

I believe both issues are related to the USB functionality and although not just happening on Acer PCs it does seem to have affected them most judging by other information on the web. Acer need to update us with what's going on.

    Hi Renatus,

I searched Dell, Lenovo, and HP forums. I couldn't find any threads or posts in those forums with people having the same problem. Could you please provide a link to where you read about non-Acer computers having these described problems since windows update? Thanks!

    Hello JordanB,

Post ~50 on this thread mentions an HP Pavilion http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/62939-drop-performance-mouse-stuttering-after-about-20-min-5.html and there was another one somewhere else but I can't remember where. Acers apart from that though.

Thanks for links! It does appear that the vast majority of computers affected are Acer computers. When I searched Dell, Lenovo, and HP forums, I found zero posts related to the matter. On this Acer forum, it's the hot topic with numerous duplicate threads describing the same issue(s). On the windows eightforum, it's mostly Acer computers.

    Hi,

I have two customer machines with this same issue. I have set them both now NOT to Fast Start, this then means they function fully (keyboard works) without having to go through restart to make the keyboard work.

I temporairly managed to fix one, by uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard, but after another windows update the problem came back.

I have run SFC /SCANNOW, which came up with nothing. I have turned off USB power management as I thought this may be the issue.

One thing I haven't yet tried is disconnecting other USB devices, particularly USB hard drives, then trying it.

Anybody else had any further thoughts?

    Nigel.
