Hello

I have a Acer Switch 10 tablet and for a while it has been having issues

When browser (chrome or opera) is open it would at some point become unresponsive

With that the W8.1 would become half-unresponsive aswell

Some features work other not (can not open Task Manager and other Windows programs, but at the same time can open VLC and watch a movie, explorer opens aswell)

When i try to restart then it wont work (hard shutdown only)

Wanted to use the recovery utility and reinstall, but it will not open

Sounds pretty virus-ish to me, especially with applications like Task Manager not opening. See if you can run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (get the free version and don't allow it to select the premium trial) and have it scan.

It should come with Windows Defender and you can download/install Microsoft's EMET. Make sure both are up to date then have them scan the system. That is what I am using on the Switch 12.

Does the same problem exist using ie browser only?

OK, so we can be pretty confident that it's not a virus. Check with Task Manager to see if the unresponsive browsers can be shut down. It might be a browser addon that's causing the problems, so after closing the browsers and verifying they are actually closed try opening one in a mode where it doesn't load addons and see how that works. If everything works with that mode, remove all addons and put them back one at a time to see which is causing the problem. I don't use either Chrome or Safari (my primary browser is Firefox, secondary IE) so can't help with starting them without the addons.

    Kinda hard to do that

When the problem starts, then i can not open Task manager or shut down the tablet (nothing happens, only hard shutdown works)

But can open a new folder and some programs work fine (like VLC)

First time seeing something like this

    Windows is half responsive

And lately it dosent even need to be a browser to make it go nuts

Just using it for a while will make it go nuts

Can't launch Acers eRecovery software either

Tryed the Win 8 OS reset function but that didn't solve the problem either

Well, that certainly explains why the symptoms were so weird... It wasn't the software, so it could be as illogical as it wanted. Smiley Happy
