I've just purchased an Acer AX3950 24" monitor but can't work out how to control the brightness.  Can anyone help please.

    Hello,

    AX3950 means Aspire X3950 and it's a desktop.

Could you give me the exact model of the monitor (see the label sticked on the back side)?

Sorry -- I was being dumb-headed.  I gave the model number of my Acer PC.  The Monitor is  a 240HL bid.  I hope that answers your question.  Thanks.

No problem. I guess you own a S240HLBid. You'll find the control buttons under the bezel and near the stand.

Yes it doesn't indicate on the manual.

Thanks, I did get that far and I can get to the menu that includes 'Brightness'.  But I can't for the life of me work out how to navigate to the 'Brightness' bar, or how to decrease it.  I suspect I may have to use one of my function keys maybe in conjunction with the arrow keys???

Look at the page EN-11 of the manual.

I've read that and tried to follow their instructions.  But I can get no response from the arrow keys.  I suspect there is vital information missing.  I'm on Windows 7 and my keyboard is an ACER  model SK 9620.

You have to use the control buttons < or > under the monitor and not the keyboard.

Thanks for you help but this is getting me nowhere.  I've been using the buttons under the monitor but there is no clear explanation how to operate the buttons.  Once you've got to the menu that includes BRIGHTNESS there are two buttons, as far as I understand it, given the role of an up arrow or a down arrow.  But these do not navigate me to the BRIGHTNESS bar.  I don't want to exhaust your patience.  Perhaps we'd better give this one a miss.  Thanks for your time.

    Hello,

You'll find the buttons function on this manual (similar monitor S200HL):

That has finally solved it. The S240HL is different in crucial ways to the S200HL in that the buttons are not labelled and they are placed out of sight under the lower edge of the monitor.  I have never before had trouble adjusting the brightness on a monitor but this assinine design solution had me foxed.  However what you've indirectly told me now is that there is a MENU button (in my case it's the centre button) which needs to be pressed at each stage of the process as a confirmation before further navigation.  So I've now managed to lower the brightness!  I do thank you for your persistent help.
