acer w3 810 How do I connect to my HP2000 laptop?
I want to find a cable to link my W3 810 to my HP 2000 laptop so I can factory reset with the disk that was sent with this tablet. Have been unable to find one that works. Best buy sold me one (a sync) cable but it did not work. Was not recognized by laptop. Is there such a thing? If so, what and where would I get one?

To link via USB you need a master and a slave. Both windows machines are acting as masters, be better to use the Microsoft tool to create a bootable flash drive and use that or buy/borrow a USB DVD reader, prederably one with an external power supply.

You pretty much have to use an external DVD drive to use that disk. You'll have to have external power on the DVD drive as well, either in the external enclosure or via a powered USB hub. Booting from another machine via USB will not work.

Well, have exeternal dvd drive and connect, however, when I put disk in nothing happens. I went to youtube and they walk you through process. Worked right up to the point where it is supposed to reset. Get error message says C:\OEM\Preload|alaunch|Alaunch\exe. A refferal was returned from the server.
Other messages>>>files missing, AND I have somehow (lost) the network adapter. When I look it up in system files it says there is nothing wrong with it but I can't get on internet because it says no network adapter, so there is no connection. This tablet is driving me to the brink...!

I'd start by going to Device Manager> Network Adapters> Broadcom SDIO. If the driver says it is ok than I would uninstall the driver and reboot. It will find the current driver and reinstall. That often fixes it.

If I uninstall don't I need to download (which I can't do) again? Or do I just click on it again and it re-installs?

I opened network adapters: Says Microsoft kenel debut network adapter
Generic SDIO device
Generic SDIO device
Unknown device (total of 4 of these listed).

mine says "broadcom 802.11 bgn wireless sdio adaptor" (same model). if after driver uninstall you widows doesn't install it automatically upon reboot and you can't manually find the correct driver from the device list, i recommend finding the adaptor driver within acer provided driver set (one setup.exe installs all drivers - so look thru subfolders to locate just network driver setup file). you'll need a usb stick to copy files to the tablet.
