Thinking about an Aspire Switch 10.1 - questions.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an Acer Aprire Switch 10.1 from Costco but I've got a few questions.

My main concern is around capacity.

I've seen the 3 different numbers for how big the micro sd card can be.  Can it handle 32, 64 or 128 gig max?

There is a mini-usb port on the tablet part.

Has anyone been able to connect up a micro-usb hub and then from there connect things like thumbdrives, keyboards, etc...?

Will the micro-usb port recognize a micro-usb thumbdrive thats 128 gig?

thanks in advance.

Just thought of another question.  Is the micro-usb port on the table powered?   Could it power a small externa hard drive?

    thx

You can use any size microSD card, I've personally tested it with a 32GB and 64GB but there's nothing stopping you from using 128GB (or for that matter 256GB and 512GB when they become avialbale). The limitation is actually in what sizes you can format. A low level format for a SDXC card (64GB and larger) needs an SDXC slot.

No problem connecting a USB hub to the mini USB port. Choose a hub with external power if you want to run external HD or DVD drives, the mini USB port doesn't have enough power supplied to run those by itself.

The USB port will handle any size USB drive, 128GB is no problem, as is 4TB. Smiley Happy The only militation is power as mentioned above, so a USB thumb drive will work without external power. You *might* be able to get away without external power with an external enclosure and SSD, but I haven't tested that combo. I'm guessing it would depend on the power requirements for the USB to SATA interface within the enclosure.

thank you so much.  All those answers are what I expected but I didn't want to end up buying it only to find out I can't add enough data capacity.  The Costco website says the micro-usb is limited to 32 gig and the Microsoft Store at Mall of America told me that it was limited to 64gig.   I expected the usb to not have enough power for much...

    I really appreciate the answer
