Does anyone know how to get the mouse pointer to be visible on extended screen?

Well, I've finally managed to work out a way to project from my iconia w4 onto my TV.  So grateful to a number of people in the community for getting me that far but each step seems to bring its own fresh problem.  so a few questions:

1.  Has anyone managed to get the iconia w4 to duplicate rather than extend?

2.  Does anyone know how I can control the extended display - I've got a mouse hooked up to my iconia so that I can flick the window I want to project onto the extended screen but the mouse pointer doesn't appear as visible on the extended (TV) screen although it does function but blind shooting is very frustrating - ok if I'm watching a movie as once it's running on the extended screen there's not much you need to manipulate but supposing I just want to browse the internet and project that on the extended screen, then it's a big problem.

Apologies if these are stupid questions, I'm not very technically savvy.

That sounds odd. I always change to an extra large pointer and long mouse trails but have never had a problem with HDMI displays like that.

What is the make and model of your TV please ? Perhaps someone can duplicate.

You can change the mouse pointer from the Ease of Access section of your PC Settings (swipe in from the right edge, click on PC Settings, then on Ease of Access from the left column. From there choose Mouse, you can choose different colors and sizes to make it more visible. It should be visible any time you are moving it around with a mouse instead of touch.

Thanks billsey, I've done that and got a lovely big, clear mouse display (white on dark backgrounds and vice versa) on my built in screen but it disappears as soon as I move it across to the extended screen, by watching the tv screen carefully and swishing the mouse back and forth slowly I can sometimes see tab headings and buttons change colour as the mouse passes over them and can then click to control what I'm seeing but it's very hit and miss and not an effective or accurate way to proceed.

hi Padgett, I'm connecting wirelessly not with an hdmi cable. I have a Toshiba L4353D which is intel widi capable and I'm using a logitech wireless mouse. I didn't think about using mouse trails and will give it a go but don't think it will work as mouse pointer is completely invisible on extended screen so don't think adding trails will work but, hey ho I'll try it just in case. Thanks ????

Oh, I hve not tried WiDi but understand it uses lossy compression to reduce the bandwidth and suspect that may be the problem. I have run into something similar with Samsung's AllShare and Google ChromeCast (ChromeCast is better but they seem to have removed the desktop display mode).  Could you try a HDMI connection and see if the same ?

Thanks Padgett, I've already got a laptop hooked up to the TV via hdmi, the whole point in getting the tab was to be able to project wirelessly so that I can control the TV from across the room without wires trailing.  I can see what you mean though it would help to eliminate issues and thus help with the diagnostic process.

Well Padgett, you nailed it - adding a shadow to the mouse made it visible on the extended screen, who'd have thought it?  You did obviously but I could have chewed the conundrum over for weeks and not come up with that, thank you soooo much.
