Acer W510 won't turn on

Hey Everyone,

So about a month ago my fiance brought over her w 510 and told me she had some issues with hard drive space. As I was pretty tired/bored, I decided to mess around with it and try to free up some space. I went a little overboard and started trying to compress some things I probably shouldn't have (can't fully recall, but maybe WinSyS, maybe C drive). Since I was tired I ended up accidently falling asleep, and when I woke up I found the battery dead on the tablet. After charging, I couldn't get it to start anymore (holding power button did nothing, windows capacative button still worked though). Any ideas on how I could get this working again? It's no longer under warranty. Just trying to determine my options (fix through a tech repair? Buy a new one?) Thanks!!!

i assume you have a charger andv charged the battery... see if you can get into bios menu by pressing power + vol -  buttons. what an odd story))

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I tried pressing and holding the power button with the vol - button and got nothing. To ensure it was charged, I plugged it in and tried again, still nothing. The power button is showing blue (fully charged), and now the windows capacative button is not vibrating once pressed. Not sure what to do still.

try it one more time: first, hold power button for 30 sec, then let go, then hold power and vol down - you should see either a bios menu or its password prompt. if nothing, i suspect you got it bricked by installing a wrong firmware (bios) version. in this case, perhaps someone else here will suggest a solution. btw, did you use the driver file from acer site for w510 model?

Still got nothing. It was working perfectly before I started compressing stuff, so I don't think it's any wrongly installed firmware. I think it just died while doing something important, but not an expert.

i would dissagree. there is a slight chance something got burnt inside...that's why the screen is now dead...but highly unlikely. as i understand bios runs from its own chip and not from ssd, so whatever you compressed there may effect the boot, but you should still be able to get into bios. sorry i couldn't help.

I do recall the back of the tablet was quite warm for a while a day or so afterwards when charged back up. I'm gonna try rebooting and connecting an HDMI cable to see if the screen is out or not.

actually, never mind, i thought you were updating windows/installing drivers (another thread). you're right-this makes little sense. seems like it's fully charged but you got a dead screen, right?

Yea, got nothing still. Tried connecting to hdmi and starting up, nothing happened. I'm starting to think there's nothing I can do, and it's not worth it to send to a repair shop as I don't want to spend a good amount of money to get it fixed when I can just buy a new tablet.

i believe hdmi will kick in only after windows boots up. not whole lot you can do to test here...you probably can't hear windows starting sound..

USB should be operational at BIOS time. Optical mouse or keyboard should light  if it is trying to start.
