Aspire MP3800 overheating during games and shutting monitor only down

Hi. Lately our desktop has started shutting the monitor down while playing games (especially new high graphic games thru Steam or even Facebook). The system itself seems to stay on (only the monitor itself shuts down) but you have to retart the whole computer to get it to turn back on. I have run one of those monitor programmes (CPUID HWMonitor) and that showed some of the temperatures were up quite high immediately after I restarted and checked. As an example on CPUID, the TMPIN0 has ranged from 51degreesC to 65, while the Core#0 (Under Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300) has ranged from 36C (current) to 56C.

I am not that savvy with terms, but the big fan in the middle of the PC is going.

Note: Recently it was not running any games, but it shut the monitor down shortly after I had restarted the computer. There has also been the odd occaiosn where it has first shut down the monitor and then decided to restart the PC by itself.)

Any suggestions. (Because I had issues with the monitor, I have recently deleted the grahics drivers and reinstalled them, but this has made no difference).

If you mean the desktop computer, yes. Otherwise I am not sure what you mean.

I am not sure if this makes any difference, but the computer did not come with a monitor, so I am using my old Dell monitor. The computer has worked ok for the last 2 years though with this monitor.

You may be right. The monitor  has again turned of by itself and all I was doing was typing some information in this community.

Thanks for help. I will get a new monitor and if I have the same issues I will come back to the discussion.
