Swapping windows 8.1 to new harddrive

Hi! i am owning an Acer AG3-605 and i am wondering if i could swap the oem Operating system (Windows 8.1 64 bit) to a third-party harddrive.

Help would be much appreciated!

    Yes, you can.

    cloning the partitions from the old HDD to the new HDD, if you don't want to loose your data

    or

    creating the media recovery installation from the Acer erecovery, so you can install from scratch the OS to the new HDD (i prefer this method)

    Thanks for the answer, the second method sounds best! But does it mean that i should just restore the os to factory settings and then will the option to choose my third-party harddrive as primary harddrive come up?

    nope.

     

    you need to create the recovery media from your working configuration, done that you must swap the 2 HDD and boot from the recovery media.
