My NEW A1-840 devices refuses to respond and shutdown.

My NEW A1-840 -- the Iconia Tab 8, Android Kitkat - devices refuses to respond to anything I do, including attempting to power it OFF.

When did it happen? It has practically gone into a hung status immediately after I attempted to exit the "Acer Accessories" app.

Surprisingly, when I attempted to connect it to my PC (for the first time) it did.

Anyway, is there a way to perform a hardware reset of the tablet? OR, do I just let the battery run it's course? I hope not.

Normally doing a long press on Power button will force to shutdown.

Once powered off, you can follow this easy guide:

I knew that a long press of the Power button would force a shutdown. Maybe I didn't press it long enough.

I COMPLETELY APPRECIATE the reinforcement of the plan.

if long press power button doesn't work....wait until the battery completly drains off.

I should have expressed it better. The long press worked.

I have had similar problems with my A1-840 running 4.4 kitkat. Bought it just 3 weeks ago. The screen flickers frequently and since I bought it mainly for reading, that's pretty annoying. Also shuts down randomly. And at least 6 times it doesn't respond immediately to power on. In most cases after it has powered itself off. I was impressed at the store and chose it over a slew of other tablets, but my experience with it has not been favorable. Especially since I've already bought accessories for it. It's going back to the store for a swap and if my replacement has any problems I'm done with Acer tablets.
