How to add Windows Media Center to Windows 8.1?

Just bought an Acer Aspire TC-120 which came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I want to add Windows Media Center. I bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro from the tech store on campus. The student employee thought I could install the Windows 8 Pro without affecting Windows 8.1 to get access to Windows Media Center. Will installing the Windows 8 Pro disc overwrite Windows 8.1? And is that a bad thing or OK for the average non-tech user like me?

press windows key logo + r

    type

    WindowsAnytimeUpgradeUI.exe

then click on Have a product key and insert your PRO serial number and follow on screen instructions.

Probably this doesn't work on OEM Windows installation, so i think you have to install the PRO version from scratch.
