I accidentally dropped my acer aspire E1-571 on the floor.

Stopped working and I thought was the Hard drive. I replaced the hard drive but now get:

PXE-E61 Media Test Failure, check cable.

The hard drive is connected to the motherboard directly, no cable...

So, is this the motherboard?

Anyone have successs in getting it going again?

boot pressing F2 and check if HDD is listed on the main page on SATA connection, if not listed.....HDD not working or broken connection.

    Already tried that.

    HDD is listed.

HDD does make whirring sound on startup so it is getting power.

I was able to run the laptop with Ubuntu on trial version with a CD. Was unable to access HDD while in Ubuntu.

Have you already tried to load factory default on BIOS?

it's a bit strange that HDD is listed in BIOS but not accessible (or not visible?) on OS.
